A note on length-weight relationship and relative condition factor of freshwater fish species inhabiting Thamirabarani River, Eastern Slope of Western Ghats, Southern Tamil Nadu, India

The length-weight relationship (LWR) and relative condition factor for the two freshwater fish species, malabar sprat, Ehirava fluviatilis quoy’s garfish, Hyporhamphus quoyi were estimated from potamon zone of Thamirabarani river, Eastern Slope Western Ghats, Southern Tamil Nadu, India. Fish samples caught fortnightly using various fishing gears viz., cast net seine between November 2020 October 2021. total length was measured to nearest 0.1 cm weight 0.001 g. LWR calculated slope b value lies within acceptable range 2.5 – 4.0 studied species. This study also reports a specimen with maximum 5.37 (TL) E. which is marginally higher compared previously observed 5 in Base new record H. first time Thamiraabrani River.
